Tabac shaving soap
Hi all,
I've heard people say various things about Tabac's shaving soap (the one that comes in the tub). Now, I used Tabac after shave lotion in the past (long ago) and it would sting a lot then feel very soothing.
Is the shaving soap similar at all? Does it smell very intense and have an alcohol content?
Would appreciate people's thoughts and comments on this soap.

The best soap I have tried so far. Very nice smell, wonderful lubrication, and overall just awesome. It's triple milled, i think, so it lasts a bit longer too.

Thanked: 9Nenad has it right - absolutely great soap.
I have sensitive skin and sometimes it might be a bit uncomfortable (little sting as soon as applied to the face) but most of the times I get no reaction and it's fab
Cheers
Ivo
ps No wonder the cologne stings - it's loaded with alcohol. The soap is nothing of the sort but still has a nice old world scent

I agree with the above. Tabac soap is a must have. Give it a try.

I like it as well, I picked mine up on Amazon.com for $11.50 for the Jar of soap, also picked up the Massive 10oz bottle of cologne for $16.50
Total was $33 including shipping I think the seller on Amazon was FragranceNet ( their Amazon prices are better than their website )

It's not very expensive and a lot of people here really like it. I'm not a fan of the scent however. To me it just smells like STRONG SOAP......not something I'd like to smell like. Also a lot of people associate it with "old" people over here.

It's a rip-off over here (as with anything you buy here I guess). It's well over US$40 for a tub delivered to your door. This is from a UK vendor of course. The price is pretty much the same if I got it from Amazon.com and had it sent to me here!! Outrageous, but that's just Britain.
I see your point, LX. Does the smell really last that long after you finished shaving? If that's the case it will be ideal for use with the scent (EDT or AS) itself. I agree though, it's also seen as an "old" scent for the youth here, but I suppose people see me as an "old" person too, given that I use a straight (of course, they are wrong, because my cheeks are like a baby's bottom!).
I think I will try my Trumper's Rose scented soap first before buying anything else. I'm not even sure if I'll like soaps; after all I'm still using creams.

LX - funny you should mention this - I was about to buy some of the Tabac cologne when I was in Amsterdam earlier this year and the sales person said it was what "old" men wore!
Having said that, I just used my Tabac soap and AS today - the soap is very good and is my favourite hard soap and I like the classic scent (and I'm well under 40!). The soap works well, but tends to dry out a bit if you leave it on for a while and doesn't lubricate as well as glycerine-based soaps (IMHO). The scent is very strong - but people don't seem to have adverse reactions to it like they do with other heavily scented soaps.
If you're looking for a hard soap that has a classic, masculine scent, this should fit the bill. It comes in a great ceramic container that can be reused and the soap lasts for ages.

Thanks, suzuki. It's definitely on my list, but I recently received a sample pack from Trumper's which I got for free. It's loaded with creams from their entire range (besides the Rose one which I use regularly). They all smell so nice I could eat them (but I won't!) and as a result I think it may be a while before I start buying more creams!!
