Art of Shaving Creams?
Does anybody have any thoughts on the shaving creams from the Art of Shaving store? They seem to have a variety of scents including the classic lavender. They sell a 5.3oz tub of cream for $22 - I am new to pricing such items - is this reasonable? It uses essential oils, and with my sensitive skin, I am considering...any advice?

This seems a little high to me, but I'm no expert on cremes.
You NEED to check out colleens cremes. They are all essential oil scented as well and I believe she has two different types of Lavender available.

I have the AOS Lavender. Price for AOS products is something I have always seen folks complain about, but I bought it because I could pick it up locally and there was no shipping involved. Great product. The same price as T&H products, and while most of the "established" wet shavers on forums would say they don't compare, for me, they do. I've thoroughly enjoyed using the product, and will buy it again once I deplete the tub.

I don't know about "established" but I'm one of those who thinks that they're overpriced and under-qualitied. (Is that even a word? Probably not. The point is, the cost/benefit analysis doesn't work out in their favor).
Still, RT points out the obvious benefit - you can pick the stuff up in your local mall. Of course, if you're lucky, you might live near a Nordstrom that stocks T&H, but I haven't found one yet.

AoS Products
A few months ago and I wouldn't have agreed with you, but now I am also of this belief. AoS are definitely overpriced. If you look hard enough you will find similar products (read 'better') for less than half the price in most cases.
Having said this, there is only one of their products that I rate very highly and that's their Ingrown Hair Night Cream. It surely is quite irreplaceable especially for my pizza-looking face.

Well, AOS is local to me, so I went out and purchased the unscented cream - it really seems to work quite well (lubrication and moisturzing qualities seem very good, and helped reduce my normal red-face irritation). I will probably stick with it until I finish the tub, then try out some of Colleen's soaps, Mama Bear soap, or Honeybee Spa (I hear they are quite good).
ps - most of the stuff in the AOS store is well overpriced including brushes and str8s. The saleswoman actually tried pitching me a sale by saying that the bigger and more expensive brushes were 10+ year brushes, and the small inexpensive brushes (all made of best badger or silver-tip) would only hold up for 5 years, and the even smaller brushes for 2 years. I held back my laughter, and the extreme impulse to blurt out "Crock of sh*t!"

I've never been to an AOS store, but I do know their reputation for overpriced items such as razors, brushes and soaps. Also, neither local Nordstroms or Macy's stocks any of the quality shaving items. For me, the Lavender tub of AOS provides every bit as good of a shave as my Taylors and T&H creams do. They are the same price as T&E for the an almost identical quantity (AOS is 5.3 oz and I believe T&H is 5.8). I find the product more than satisfactory. But like anything else...YMMV!
