Default Is Noxzema shave cream alive and well?

Bought some Nivea extra moisture shave cream while on holidays and was surprised to find that it smelt like the old Noxzema and also had a pinkish colour to it. SWMBO confirmed that it did indeed smell like Noxzema. Has anyone else found this too? Did Nivea change the formula? As a bonus it produces a great lather with a Muhle synthetic brush. Anyway, if you are nostalgic for the old Noxzema shave cream give the Nivea a try.

They make it in can goo form... I use the face creme daily.... Don't use the shaving creme though... Never tried it as if it don't go on my brush it usually doesn't go on my face.... I'm sure the stuffs good though...

Must be showing my age, I am talking about the Noxzema shave cream that came in a tube and was made to used with a brush, not the canned goo they put out now. We had the Noxzema shave cream in a tube in Canada years ago and I just assumed that it was also available in the USA too.

I'm a bit young, and hate to show my ignorance when it comes to vintage toiletries. I never knew it was made in a solid state creme... Interesting.... I wonder if they still make it.... Did it have the same eucalyptus menthol smell and sensation and the face cleansing cream?

Indeed, during the mid-20th century Noxzema did make a pink colored shaving cream for men in a jar. It was used by U. S. soldiers during World War II.

I used to use Noxzema shave cream myself from the 1960s thru the 1970s. It provided a great shave.

I believe they stopped making it for distribution in the U. S.. Shaving cream in a can was too attractive as a money maker.

Thanks for the tip. I'll have to check out the Nivea.

In Europe we can get Noxzema Foam from the can in three different versions, i guess its not the same like the old one (a collegue of mine once gave me a vintage sample) but the Foam is well, especially the menthol version.

The Noxzema shave cream that I used came in a conventional tube packed in a red box IIRC and I was able to buy it until the early 90s in Canada. The Nivea shave cream marked "extra moisture" and made in Germany seems eerily similar to the original Noxzema.
