Over stropping?
I know that you can definitely overhone a razor, but as long as you follow proper technique so as not to dull that razor's edge, is it actually possible to over strop a razor? I wouldn't think so, b/c the strop isn't sharpening, but I could be completely wrong? What's everybody think?

There's practically no such thing as too much stropping as long as you're using good technique. I suppose a few thousand laps might be different, but that's not practical.

I don't think you can overstrop on plain leather. Pasted strops are a different story though.

Thanked: 1587I'm with X - I don't reckon you can overstrop, at least not in the same way as you can overhone. The only danger I can see with doing a lot of stropping all at once is fatigue, leading to bad form, cut strops, and rounded edges (purely academic observation with no element of personal experience, of course ).

Yep everyones right you can't overstrop with plain leather unless you spend a day stropping continuously and then the question is which will fail first the edge or the strop? Why that could be a neat experiment.
