Thanked: 0Tugging
Hi all,
I am experiencing some tugging with my razor and am wondering if a paste might fix the problem. Currently, I am shaving off a Norton 8K without using a finishing hone or a paste. The razor is sharp in that I can get a close shave. However, it tugs enough to be unpleasant, although not intolerable. Would a paste fix this problem and if so, what kind? If not, should I get a finishing hone such as a Chinese 12K and follow it up with a paste?
Thanks.

Thanked: 1195As long as you haven't let the edge slip too far (meaning bevel damage) then yes, pastes should be able to touch up your edge and bring it back to where it should be.
A high grit finishing stone would be a fine choice too. It can be one or the other. If budget is a concern then pastes are your best bet.
