Default not sure what to try next

Been str8 shaving for a month now and it seems that after about 3-4 shaves my razor starts tugging. i've been able to refresh it with CrOx on a felt pad but it doesn't seem to last. I'm using a home made strop with leather and denim. I know my stropping isn't expert yet but i'm wondering what i should try next. Don't have a lot of money to spend so i don't want to be buying something needlessly.

A Naniwa SS 12K finishing stone can never be bought needlessly.

    Tell that to SWMBO.

tintin, another good option might be to find a good barber's hone. I'm currently using one as my finisher when honing and am getting good results. At some point (hopefully in the near future) I'm going to try using a Nani 12k as Ace suggests and see what the differences are. I just gotta convince SWMBO to let me buy one first...

I have a barbers hone, would that do the same thing? Also i don't want to hone it excessively and wear the razor out if that's a danger.

You could try a barbers hone, if you are worried about wear, tape the spine. Plenty of info here on how to use them. They vary alot though from brand to brand. It may be that your strop and technique aren't quite there yet either. I have managed 50 shaves off a Puma with just a strop, and have heard of better than that.

There are a couple of telltales in your postings that stand out

Can we have more details or even better pics of the strops ???

Lap Counts you have been using on all 3

    Type of CrOx

A barber's hone used correctly is an awesome tool which one do you have ????

    How to use it

Basically you have asked for info but to help you the best, we also need a bit of it too

here's the strop i have, I don't have a picture of the denim one but it's denim glued to some thin pieces of paper board (kind of like what a cereal box is made of) i usually so 20 passes on the denim and 50 on the leather.i've used 3 on the CrOx.
my barbers hone is an American hone co. looks like a frictionite but doesn't say so on it.(it hasn't been lapped yet, I just got it).
the CrOx is the green paste type.
I'll try to get some better images of my strops if needed. Thanks for you help!

Honestly, I see nothing wrong with the strop or the counts on Denim and Leather..
It is not uncommon for people to do more harm then good with strops when they first begin. looking closly at the strop pic I see some marks toward the lower right hand corner that could have been caused by running the edge off the strop

I would try upping the Lap count with the CrOx first, maybe 6 or 9 if that doesn't work I would try the BH and see if that can't pull the edge back into shape..

But let's give you complete confidence in getting your razor back to shaving well...

Try what I suggested and try your best to get it clicking right, if however you try all this and it doesn't work for you, I will hone the razor back to shave ready, and use my BH to finish the edge, so you have a benchmark of how it should feel again..

Honing is on me, Shipping is on you

But hopefully you will get it to pop all on your own
