This is the first time i bought chromium oxide. Is this the right one?



It is a powder. How do i use?

Where did you get it? Some of them aren't of great quality.

Just sprinkle it on a spare strop and rub it in with a rag. It will stick to anything.

Only way to know is to try it, it should be 0.5 um or smaller, that means no visible scratches at all.
If in doubt, send a sample to one of the Norwegian guys to test.

Your can seem to have warnings on it, I prefer the one without, ignorance is bliss!

I believe your worst case scenario would be that it wouldn't be as pure as the stuff that the various shaving vendors sell. Could possibly have other particulates, such as iron perhaps, in the mix. I'm not 100% sure about how that would affect the steel, although I would imagine it would affect the scratch pattern under a loupe...could get the odd scratch that's a bit deeper than the rest.
I've never used crox, just going off memory of what I've read on the less pure stuff...no idea how yours compares. I'd try it out like has been suggested above. Less is more when testing something out though. Good luck sir.

It's normally known as green compound in polishing circles. You can mix it with some water or some oil. It's insoluble like a suspension so the liquid dries leaving the CrO behind.

It will float? sink? What i supose to see after mix it with water?

Just sprinkle it straight onto the strop. It will stick. Then rub it in with a rag, I use a powder as well

If you have doubts, use it on an old piece of denim or other cloth or even a scrap of flat wood to try it before you put it on your strop, once its on, your not getting it off. And use a blade to see what the polish looks like.
