Thanked: 8so added the 10 carats of diamond powder to 4 oz of 70% isopropyl alcohol and applied it to the balsa with a fine paint brush, let it dry and stropped my razor on it, originally after trying the knife I was skeptical but after a few strokes the edge had a mirror finish, so I did 20 rounds as I didn't want to overdo it, after a wiped the blade and stropped it like normal and then tried the hanging hair test, usually I can pop hairs about an inch from my fingers but this time I was able to cut them at about 3 inches so at that point it did seem to be better then when I started, I tried shaving with it and the blade did have a sharper feel to it not a bad feel but it defiantly felt like an edge I guess this must be the harsh feeling people talk about, it felt like the razor shaves smoother than normal on the sides of my face, it also made a little more noise than normal, but my chin and upper lip didn't feel any different there is a slight tug but it's always there, I didn't notice it cutting any closer either but what I did notice was I didn't get razor burn under my jaw from shaving against the grain, it's been happening my past 3 shaves so I must have done something to the edge as this time I felt completely fine after, so maybe the diamond fixed it, or maybe I got lucky this shave, I'll have to try a few more times. looking back I probably should have taken a before and after pic but I was kind of impatient to try it that I completely forgot.
also probably should have fallowed the advice of the first guy and just dusted the balsa with the powder, seems like it would be a lot less messy.
so in conclusion so far it looks like it is working, I think it's still too early to recommend it to other people yet, but with at least one other forum user having good results I have to say it's looking good so far.

Thanked: 3215Yup, all diamond powder and paste is not the same.
What you are paying for when buying from SRD is someone figured out the formula and tested what formulation would work best on a straight razors.
Buy the spray, it will last you many years.
By the way... your Chrome Oxide is from a Straight Razor vendor… for straight razors… Right?
