    So would you say that the 3 micron is roughly equal to the 8K side of the Norton?

    I feel it is. if you look in the gallery section of this site there is a chart showing Amplex Abrasive grit sizes and comparisons. Since Norton and Amplex are all part of the same parent company they are probably accurate figures.
