I'm a new straight razor shaver and my new red latigo strop has more draw than I like, what can i do if anything ? Will it get better once it breaks in ?

Thanked: 4942You might try less pressure, but the Latigo strops are among those with the heaviest draw.

I've found, often times the sharper a razor the more draw it will have especially on the latigo so it's kind of a test.

Thanked: 16The red Latigo has a heavy draw. SRD's Premium I will have a lighter draw than Latigo. Draw is a subjective preference. If you decide you like a very light draw, horesebutt is the way to go.
By the way, welcome to SRP. Be patient with your straight razor. There is a learning curve, but stay with it and you will see improvement as you go along.Last edited by TheLegalRazor; 02-08-2014 at 12:09 AM.

Thanked: 1195The bad news is that when latigo is new it has a glossy surface and the draw actually becomes heavier once broken in. If this is something that you feel you simply will not be able to get accustomed to then a different strop with a light draw might be better. However I'd recommend sticking with the latigo for awhile as it really does make a fantastic strop material. I love mine.
