    Default Pasted Bench strop

Hey everybody, I just got a pasted bench strop from Tony in the mail today. Its my first time using one or even seeing one for that much. I got it pasted w/ 1.0 diamond and 0.5 cr oxide. My question is... is the green paste supposed to be dry? When I touch it, it comes off on my fingers so I'm not sure if thats how its supposed to be. It seems like it shouldn't do that b/c then when I strop it would come off on the razor...? I hope this isn't a dumb question.

Was it wrapped in cellophane when it arrived? It'll dry out over a day or two, though the dust will still come off on your fingers and razor somewhat. Make sure you clean the spine and edge of the blade before switching to a different side of the strop to avoid cross-contamination of the abrasives.

It was wrapped in wax paper or something like that so hopefully it'll dry after being exposed to the air. Thanks for the info.

A little should come off on your finger, but if cakes are coming off then check with Tony.

Open it up and let it dry a few days. There is really more than needed on there and I find it evens out after the first few uses. One could take a clean rag (that you will plan on throwing away <g>) and wipe it down slightly to remove any excess.
I'd prefer you simply let it dry.
