Thanked: 0When will Handamerican be up?
Does anyone have any idea when Handamerican strops will be back up and running? I'm sure the people running the company are busy because they keep pushing the deadline for the products back, which I think has something to do with them using horse leather, but still.
Any ideas?

If you do call, let the rest of us know what's up. I've gotten no response to emails as of late.

I just got off the phone with him, sounds like he's doing Great... He's getting some new shipments of Horsehide in and will be re-doing some of the product lines he offers. He hopes to have the site up again at the later part of next week.
it would be best to give him a call, if you need further info or just want to speak to him..

Thanked: 346Nope, but I've got chromium oxide on vellum on tile. Also wowza. A very hard and perfectly flat surface seems to make the chrome oxide really sing. I really wish I'd remembered Keith's setup before I went to all that trouble lapping the tile. That stuff is @$^@#$ hard!

Thanked: 9Michael,
why do you have to lap the tile? I use a marble tile to lap my stones on wet / dry and so far has worked great.
But if you have a reason why I can't just stick leather / vellum on the marble I guess I'd rather buy something ready from Keith...
Cheers

Thanked: 7A marble tile has to be machined flat, and hence it is very flat and does not need lapped, although it pays to check this assumption with a straight edge.
A ceramic tile is obviously formed and baked. During that process it could go off flat.

Thanked: 9That's what I thought - thank you!
HandAmerican website is down right now, should be up soon. Keith sells Cr2O3 and other similar stuff, including bench hones, glass plates + leather + paper for honing, is expected to release some new horse leather later next week, etc.
