Default Can one paste a haning strop?

I thought CrO2 paste was for paddle strops, but another post got me thinking about this.

    1) does one paste a hanging strop?
    2) if so, any special considerations when stropping?
    3) Can you paste a linen hanging strop, or just a leather.

    Thanks for the feedback

You can, but it's tricky to use - there are a lot of ways to damage your blade, and there's not a whole lot a pasted hanger can do that a pasted paddle can't do just as well and a whole lot safer. I'd recommend that you not do it until you've got some more experience under your belt.

The most important consideration with a pasted hanging strop is to make sure you keep the strop bar tight and dont use heavy pressure in stropping. I use pasted hanging strops and I find they work really well if you dont try to be the fastest stropper on the block. I use toe leading action for my pasted strops as this replicates the hone marks and doesn't stress the edge.

I think if you are going to use a pasted hanging strop the way to do it is to place it on a flat hard surface but of course then its not a hanging strop anymore.

I agree with the other guys that you can, but need to exercise some care when doing so. Personally I paste the embossed side of my hanging strop and use it to touch up my blades - generally only requires a single return trip (sometimes two). I use it in hanging mode, and am always careful to remove any paste residue from the razor before flipping the strop over and stropping on the unpasted side.
