    Thanks for the replies, guys. Rob/Mark, could you explain what you mean by a "heel forward" stroke?

    Heel forward just means the razor is angled slightly so the heel is forward when stropping. I find this a very natural way to strop and with the x stroke ensures the whole of the edge is stropped.

    I started using a X stroke I saw on Mastro Livi which is different. He strokes from left to right and runs the blade off the strop. His way insures the tip stays on the strop and doesn't raise up. I see a big difference using his method.
