Thread: CrOx paste on Amazon

Does anyone use and have success with a strop paste that they bought on s Amazon? There seems to be only a couple options on there and there happens to be some bad reviews on those couple products.

I know SRD and others sell good ones but I like the no shipping aspect of prime.

For razor use, only pure Chrome Oxide will give you a chip free edge. Most Chromium Oxides sold for polishing at Hardware or Woodworking stores vendors contain aggressive abrasives for quick cutting. And some contain very little or any Chrome Oxide, labeled, Green Polishing Compound.

Look at the product content, unless it is close to 100 percent pure, it will not work and cause you more problems that it will solve.

A single purchase of quality, razor proven Chrome Oxide is a life time purchase and is not that expensive $10-15. There are many threads on Chromium Oxide and their use, substrates, pressure and quantity applied will affect performance.

Free shipping for a mystery ChromOx of unknown quality is not a bargain. As pointed out, a single purchase of this stuff will last a long time so you want to invest in high quality.

Personally, I would only purchase from a reputable source. Remember, you only get one face and small amount of chrome oxide will last you a very long time.

Crox from SRD and you know the quality and customer service is top notch.

Yeah I would probably go with somewhere like maggards or SRD. I have a container of the maggards and it will probably last me a life time

I use Maggards and it only takes a small dab at best to coat a strop and will last a lifetime for sure!
