Thanked: 5that's funny. i just got my TI today too. One of the old Spartacus razors. It'll probably be the one razor i'll send to Lynn someday, i don't want to mess it up. And i just ordered a 2.5" latigo strop from Tony

I have one of Tony's Horsehide strops and I'll tell you its a real nice strop. The razor just glides up and down the strop. There is no draw on this strop at all even with the application of strop dressing. I probably have a dozen vintage strops including some old horsehides but his is way nicer. You should all run out and order one right now!

Horsehide does have a unique feel. Almost velvety instead of the "sticky" draw found on most dressed strops. Rich D and I were talking about this the other day and the best term we came up with was "magnetic attraction". The razor seem to be drawn too the surface but does not feel like normal draw....does the job though.
My vintage ones feel very much the same. Now thew synthetic material I have been trying has almost too much draw I think. I have been using a negative pressure when stropping on it. Kind of like shaving with a Feather straight....negative pressure is often needed.
Thanks for the kind words guys

Thanked: 8Well I'm glad Tony gave his description on the strop. I don't think I could have described the action I got from it. Very unique. I gave my new razor about 20 strops and went to town. Wow what a shave is all I can say. The quality of the strop is top notch. I love it and the action was very crisp when stropping. Different from the others to say the least. While stropping my razor I was thinking I would like to have another but about 12inches longer to do my bowie knives and other hunting knives. This is by far the best strop I have ever used. Thanks Tony.

You want pictures of my strop. I don't think so. Then you'll be fondling those pictures of my strop and that's too much to even think of.
There isn't anymore to say about a strop, its just a very high quality piece of leather that does a great job with a razor. If you can afford one get it you will be glad you did.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero
