Thread: Stropping sensations.

Gentlemen,

I noticed the other day that I can feel when my edge is shave ready by the way it feels on the strop.

A rough edge will have a rough sensation on the strop.
A smooth sharp edge has a smooth almost sticky sensation.
A dull or rolled edge has almost no draw and feels slippery in a way for me.

I don't know if anyone else gets this sensation while stropping but I think it is a good indicator to know if your edge is shave ready for me personally.

Not a sure fire way to tell but are any of the tests?

I'm pretty sure it depends on the strop and the razor. And the test is your face.

What can I say I'm just stating my observations.

I get exactly what you mean solitary soldier. This is how I strop now I never count anymore. I just keep going till I get the right feel

Yes.. I know you know what I mean. It's a certain thing some of us can feel.

The knowledge and wisdom you have must be immense. That is more then triple my age. People feel different things differently. That makes us human. What feels a certain way to some can feel totally different to others.
