Thanked: 0I think it's pretty clear I need to go through Tony. I'd be an idiot to reject such overwhelming support of a salesman's products.
I'll email Tony and see what he recommends.
Thanks so much, Everyone. This is easily the friendliest, most helpful board I've been on in regards to any subject.
Expect me to bug all of you about stones very soon

Thanked: 1587Hey Cap'n - I've come in here a bit late I guess. I've got no experience of Tony's strops except what the guys here say and I'm sure you couldn't do better.
But, if you want to buy locally, the shaver shop sells 2 kinds of Black Beauty hanging strop - they are what I use and they are very good. There's a guy on the central coast of NSW who'll make you a custom strop at reasonable prices. I've also found a couple of local leather "artists" (don't ask!) who are willing to make a strop or two as well.

Robert Outram Gentle Grooming.
His strops are incredible and amazing value for money. The light shaded leather is extremely thick and the build very impressive. Looks good in any home.

Thanked: 0I paid a visit to the Shaving Shop first up, however with their cheapest SR at $120 and their strops at $100 I decided to take my business elsewhere. Luckily I found this place and picked up a fantastic SR for $50!!
I've contacted Tony about the strop and already I can see why everyone raves about him. Fantastic service. I'll be sticking by someone that knows how to run a good business with great service.
Josh and Tony are now the Dynamic Duo in my book.

Thanked: 1587Fair enough - the shaver shop does tend to gouge you for any straight-related stuff, that's true. And from what I've heard you can't go wrong with Tony.

Thanked: 4Or even have a bash at making your own. You may well be able to pick up a small shoulder locally for the same or less than ordering a strop and then you'll have enough to make lots of strops. Maybe 8 ft sq of 9oz veg tan. If you find a local leather supplier you might also be able to buy just enough leather for a few dollars.
