    Default angle on pasted paddles

When refreshing on a wide pasted paddle, is it important to try to replicate the heel-leading motion of honing (i.e. by going toe-leading)? On narrow paddles the X takes care of things. I have a wide paddle and I've always just gone straight down with the razor perpendicular since it's easier.

I always use an x pattern, heel leading, just like stropping. Not to replicate the striation pattern but to ensure quality contact and to flow the metal against the supporting bevel.

Can't say that I know that your way is wrong though.
