Paddle strops are handy, used one for about a month r two, but I like my hanging strops. So for the last 4 years I have a Kanayama that has traveled or been in my bag 8-9 months out of the year. When I pack it goes into a strop sock and I lay it in the bag on its side and run it around the inside of the bag, then I pack my clothes and shaving kit. I used to carry a synthetic brush too, but I love badger so that's what I carry now. Pill bottle with holes, I use every day so I,m not worried about the moisture I leave it on the counter in the bathroom, but seriously if you take it out when you unpack when I finally get home 2-3 months later, I don't see any damage yet, if you forgot it and left it in the bag for a long time I could see that as a mildew issue.

The more you travel you will see it's really no different than It Was before, I have a razor case that was sold around here for a while that , makes no sure to damage to them, a shave stick, my par accord bracelet to hang the strop, and those flexible twist ties they sell that are 12" long can be bent into a brush holder, now travel. I have all my shaving great when I take long bike rides to, it all fits in a normal shave kit, and the strop is packed the same way except for I seal it in plastic, ( you never know when it rains or if your bags are sealed). Thanks for the tip to lay the strop on it side and run it along the wall of the bag! Works great and keeps the strop flat.

    Aloha!

Like many here I have traveled extensively. Actually, outrageously at times. I was on the road for decades far more than I was home.

I travel with a travel strop and always have. I leave my good 3" strop at home. I have a shorter 2" travel strop and a small barber hone that I carry with my straight razor.

Someone mentioned hanging the strop on the security latch-hook on the hotel door. Most have these latch-hooks although that's changing as new locks are implemented. The nice thing about hanging your strop on these is that you CAN'T forget it. It's handing on the mechanism you have to unlock to get out of the room.

The newer and more upscale hotels that don't have these have me attaching the strop to a hanger in the closet. Works great, you just need to remove it and put it in your luggage so you don't forget it.

I've scaled WAY back on travel. I spent decades away from friends and family looking out a hotel/airplane/car window. That's not a lifestyle I enjoy much these days.

    Mahalo!

When I shave at my parents' house I use a bit of rope and tie one end of the strop to a shower handle. *One of those grab handles you put up to help yourself get into and out of the shower without a fall.

My strop has a spring operated clasp that hooks onto a ring. I tied the ring onto the bar and I can easily unhook the strap when I want to move it.

When I go to see my GF in Indonesia I'll do the same thing. I very rarely lose anything because I am meticulous about checking and rechecking my gear and I always "look back." *Hopefully I won't turn into a pillar of salt one day.

I learned my lesson a few times. I check the room at least three times and if I get that feeling I forgot something I check a fourth time and it’s saved me a few times. Trust your gut!

When I travel I always use my feather razor. That way I don't have to worry about humidity, moisture, stropping, etc.

Usually I travel with a carry-on only and than I'm restricted to shavette. But for longer trips, when I'm checking a bag in, I opt for a paddle strop with one side of it CrOxed - it'd also take care of occasional touch-up if I need one.

I keep my razors in the anti-rust sleeves from TSS so no worries about humidity and rust. Plus stropping is the fun part about straight razors!

Well I didn’t listen to my own advice. I’m traveling in Europe for work and got rushed by a coworker to check out and I didn’t do even a double check and left my strop behind. Learn from me please cause this sucks haha! Back to using my backup Gillette super speed to keep me going.

Strike previous comment of using Gillette. Got the b&@ls to try palm stropping and so far I think it works. Time will tell......
