yes he was left handed, I am currently adding my thumb print on the other side,, I hold mine with my thumb as you show Tom, I don't pinch it like the other guy has, but I don't do 3" strops, the only 3" I have is a roo from SRD, I have a leather strip sewed on the bottom front and back about 2" wide,, keeps it from cupping. on my 2 1/2" strops its never been an issue, at least as long as I don't pull it tooo tight
by the way Tom, that old man sure made a slick strop and I strop way more than I used to with it pure stropping bliss, I may need another shell my friend Tc“ I,m getting the impression that everyone thinks I have TIME to fix their bikes”

Good thing I did not send you this Russian 700C, Tc!
I figure I may not ever have gotten it back!
He had a way of getting them super slick, yet soft and supple.
I figure lots of rubbing?

I had to get up and go to my strop and grab it because I had no idea how I hold it. Never really thought about it I just do it.

Yeah. It's not like we are playing 'tug of war'.
Just holding a strop taught for stropping a little blade?
As it is comfortable for you is the best, I think!

I use an oldtimers claw grip with thumb and index fingers on top and middle finger underneath all combined as a claw grip at the end of my Kanayama strop. No cupping and great control after 7 years. Try this, it is easy and simple. Good luck.
Proper prior planning prevents piss poor performance.
