Default Best type of strop for pastes?

I use a paddle strop for the black and red pastes which is obviously leather but are there any who would advocate using a canvas/linen strop for these sorts of pastes?

The paddle strop is the best solution for these pastes.

Only if the weave of the linen was filled would pastes be of any benefit on a linen strop imo. I have 2 linens from TM that I heavily soaped till full then applied diamond pastes to both. They work very well indeed and I would recommend this method of strop dressing on linen.

    Puff,
Is there any advantage to doing this over simply pasting the leather?

I have been using diamond sprays on paddles and could see they would work nicely on a leather hanging strop as a light, even application would be easy to do.

One advantage Tony with pasting the linen is reduced friction and draw compared pastes applied to leather, this is I guess due to the weave. Second would be that the two linen pasted strops can stay in the bathroom uncovered without fear of moisture ready for the quick touch up when needed. Third is the ability to apply a lot of tension to the strop without deformation. This makes it as good as a pasted paddle imo.
Lastly Tony, your strops are too good to apply pastes to so what else was I to do when I wanted dedicated diamond pasted hangers.
Love them new strops Tony, I'm still on the touchy feely stage with them
