    Default "Matching" strops to razors

    It seems most times when people discuss strop preferences it's related to when they use it...pasted strops after honing, hanging strop just before shaving, paddle strop when traveling, etc. Another factor related to favoring one strop over another seems like it could be the razor. It seems reasonable that some strop/razor combinations work better than others. Anyone find that?

    Dale,

    I've mentioned this on SRP before, but I was told by the son of the founder of IRS Co. that the old time barbers prefered Russia hide strops for wedge blade straights and that cordovan strops were considered the best ever for hollow grounds.
