Default What to mix with powder to make a good paste?

I have read the sticky on pasting a strop, but it is from 2008. Just wondering if a few people have come up with a different, or better solution?

I received some paste, and powdered Cr2O, and Fe2O3 recently.

The pasted Cr2O is 0.5 micron, the powdered is 0.3 micron, and I want to make some good long lasting paste with the smaller 0.3 Cr2O to apply to a cotton strop.

I have plenty of mineral oil, I use for my cutting boards, but wasn’t sure if it was the best thing to use.

As always, help, and suggestions are always appreciated.

Been using mineral oil for years, works great and is what was recommended to me when I first started shaving with a straight razor.

A couple drops of Mineral, Neetsfoot or Ballistol.

    You don’t need much.

Add the powder to the oil.

For powdered CrOx pigment I mix it with Isopropyl alcohol and apply it with a spray bottle, works great, I imagine one could use this method w/any powdered sub-micron abrasive.
