I wouldn't be overly concerned about muting the toe . Iwasaki razors come like that standard.
It's also possible that the toe has been honed to a burr or maybe has been bumped forming a a small fold. Tapping a fingernail can do it.
Muting the point by 1 or 2 strokes on the finest stone can fix it. The next honing would likely restore the tip point.“The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.”

I use a Boker Loom strop to do mine to avoid this problem. It works a treat and it's exactly the right size for the smaller blade.

Thanked: 13234You are lifting/dropping the handle as you are ending your stropping stroke, it is very noticeable (Scratches) when stropping a Kamisori
Many people do it when stropping in general, but the size of the blade hides it with a longer blade
