Thanked: 150woodcraft
I searched the threads but could not find anything on this type of strop.
Would this STROP be acceptable for a pasted strop? I do not yet have one, and was going to go to the local woodcraft today and pick one up depending upon the responses. they also have Green Chrome Oxide Compound and Yellowstone Honing Compound
All input appreciated
Matt

Although it may get the job done, I'm going to opt for one of http://www.thewellshavedgentleman.com/ strops, as I'm greatly pleased with my Artisan hanging strop. I'm sure the quality will be higher and the razor specific design takes the guess work out for we newbies.

Thanked: 5Tony's paddles are classier and purpose built. His 2-sided 2" x 10" model sold for $33.95 but it looks like it's being replaced with a 2.5" model when he comes back from vacation so i'm guessing the price will be on par with the 2-sided paddle from woodcraft. And he can pre-paste them for you!

So Tony's are cheaper, larger, built just for straight razors, and better looking
I don't see anything wrong to look around and think about other options - where I grew up one running motto was 'trust but verify'. Although I'm pretty lazy and would've just taken Tony's, but I already have one of his practice ones and think that the leather is superb, so I'm biased towards him.

in regards to shaving and everything else: Patience is a virtue. sure the instant gratification feels nice but it does not last and in the end you wind up buying twice.
Naturally you could search the forum a little and find detailed instructions on making your own bench or paddle strop and where to get pastes and leather (besides Tony) and then you have your tool and the satisfaction of learning, of course it will take a few days, mainly for the adhesive to cure.Last edited by syslight; 09-16-2007 at 06:27 PM.
