    Default Strop help!

    So i got a NOS vintage strop off of ebay, the problem is the lady i bought it from didn't put it in a long enough box so she bent it and now it isn't straight. It has a bump in the middle how can ii fix this.

    I could be the strop had been stored for years folded in half. My first ebay strop had been folded and had a noticeable bend. It was easy to see it had been doubled over a long time.

    What I did: placed it in a gentle 'back bend' position (with ends weighted), checked it periodically and worked the leather with my fingers. If it's dry, maybe back folding and treatment with neatsfoot oil. Working the linen with your fingers may help loosen and realign the fibers, also. Thinking back, the linen actually took more massaging and coaxing than the leather.

    With a little patience you should be able to get it in shape.
