    Default edge after strop

I've been able to get both my razors to where they feel like they're shave ready off my coticule and they pass the AHT and TPT perfectly, they don't pass the HHT, but they didn't pass that when they came honed by Lynn either so I'm not too concerned about it.

When i strop i do 40/60 linen/leather and both shave fairly nicely, but when i do the TPT they don't feel as sharp, is this just that the strop removes the rough edge and smooths it out? Or is it that i'm possibly stropping incorrectly and potentially rounding the edge a bit?

How do your edges feel after going from coticlue and through the stropping process? I'm wondering if I'm missing out on any shaving sharpness!

    Erik,

I've experienced what you're describing--sometimes a nice, sticky edge after stropping, sometimes a smoother one. If I don't get a sticky feeling, I'll do more stropping and try a few different techniques. For example, I might do 10 or 20 slower strokes with a little pressure, than 30 or 40 light, quick strokes. Lately I've been playing with letting my strop slacken just a tiny bit--maybe 1/2 inch or so in the middle.

If I settle for a less-than-sticky edge, I can usually tell during the shave.

    Good luck,
    Josh
