    Default Paste medium

Im looking for some suggestions as what to use as a paste medium. I tried an experiment using red rouge on leather and it produced a nice polished edge, i think that it would do a great job after honing when i finally get round to it, it just smooths things out nicely. What i want to know though for strop paste mkII is what should i use as the medium. In my first experiment i used petroleum jelly, it worekd ok, but was a little messy and meant i had to wash the blade before stropping on pure leather. Any ideas as to what i could use?

Diamond pastes is what I use and can maintain a razor that is shave ready for a long time. You can get them here. http://www.tedpella.com/polish.htm I like the liquid better than the pastes. Easier to spread and for me will be a lifetime supply. .5 micron Chromium Oxide is also recommended and it can be obtained here. http://www.handamerican.com/newscary.html
