    Default paste drying time

I ve put some .5 diamond paste on my TM practice strop about 3 days ago and the paste is still tacky to the touch. Is this normal or should I wait longer before using it??

    thanks

If its still tacky after three days you probably put too much on. usually overnight or 24 hours is all you need. You don't need to really load up the strop. A very light even coat is all it takes. This is one case where less is more.

I am beginning to think Amplex has changed their formulation a bit. Normally Amplex dried for me in one day and stayed a chalky consistancy forever. Starting early last fall I noticed it stays damp for days on end.

My personal paddle recently pasted and kept in our bedroom is a nic4 chalky color...until I tokk it into my shop one day where it is more humid. Withing hours the entire paddle darkened where the paste absorbed moisture in the air and looked nearly like a freshly pasted strop. Whatever carier is being used is hydroscopic and poicks up moisture easily, delaying drying time.

Thanks for the update Tony. Did you find this was the case with all the pastes. As my 2.5 seemed to dry up quickly, but the .5 is taking forever
