I'm not sure. I think one side would be sticky/smooth leather and the other side would be slightly less sticky. They could be nearly identical because one side is usually pasted with a powder or paste grit for sharpening. There would be no linen because linen was a mild abrading method to extend an edge and a pasted side would accomplish the same basic thing.
I would use the same trick I use to evaluate hone grit. Just rub your finger up and down both sides and use the one that feels smoothest for daily stropping. If they feel the same then it probably doesn't matter. If your finger can't tell, the razor won't be able to either. Just don't tell the razor you might be using the wrong side. Or, you could just try them both for shaves and see if you feel any difference.

Dovo padle is prepasted in one side wicth dovo red paste "side plus dark, red dark" and other side "side plus light" is lather only for stroping before shaving.
This is his strop? http://www.classicshaving.com/catalo...944/196043.htm
But there variacions in padles strops of dovo. Some of leather and hone. Leather and leather prepasted, leather and balsa prepasted, etc. ... Can you put a photo where they are two sides of its strop?
Greetings from Barcelona-Catalonia

Thanked: 10It is a padle strop, one side with red russian leather (wildjuchten) for daily stropping and balsa wood with fine red paste on the other side for edge maintainance after a number of shavings.
