Default Can you randomly strop without intent of shaving?

Just to get your blade a bit sharper throughout the week? Or will this damage the blade?

You could. But stropping doesn't sharpen a razor It just realigns the edge and there is no need to do tat without bothering to shave. Once you get past about 60 laps there is not noticeable improvement in the edge.

Man! I thought the strop was meant to sharpen the blade! So eventually, the strop will be useless in a certain amount of time?

What will I need then, a waterstone?

Yep, a waterstone to re sharpen the blade or a pasted paddle strop or bench strop that does the same. This isn't really honing but just taking a sharp blade back to a finishing step for a 'refresh' to get it shaving well again. Most guys use the same thing for this that they would to put a fine finish on a blade they were honing up. eventually this even might not be enough and the blade will need to be rehoned with coarser stones but here we are talking a while.
