Will this harm the strop or the ability to strop my razor in any way?

Nope. Just wipe it off immediately and it's biz as usual. If you see any discoloration, just reapply some strop dressing, let it sit for 24hrs and you're back in biz.

As long as the leather isn't really saturated it shouldn't leave any spots.

There is onyl 1 spot, and it's darker than the leather -- maybe 1/4" wide. I don't have any pasts yet either, I'm a newbie lo

Don't worry, a little water won't hurt your strop. In fact it's a good idea to wipe your leather down with a damp rag, once in a while, just to clean it.

The spot(s) should lessen with the application of strop dressing. Just think of the darkening and spots as "patina" on your strop. They add character!

Wow, after reading the 'cupped strop' posts and this one I decided that many here treat their strops with kid gloves.

I'm not recommending you do anything different, just that you probably don't need to worry quite so much. My strops have seen barbaric treatment (relative to what I'm reading) and they still strop fine. Better the more I seem to beat them up. They've seen plenty of water, suds and beard hair without any permanent damage. Just rub the strop thorougly with your palm. As for cupping, I 'reverse cup' or bow the center upwards on purpose before I strop and use an X-pattern. Or I scrape the back side of the strop firmly on the edge of a countertop.

Basically the only thing I've managed to ruin a strop with in the past are:
1) too much conditioner/oil/whatever
2) savage cuts

So no, water isn't really a big deal.
