    Default Hanging a strop question

I've searched a bit, but can't find an answer... where and how do you hang a strop? I got my first strop in Saturday from TM. It's a thing of beauty, but I don't know the best place to hang it or even how to hang it.

By where, I don't mean which room. I'm guessing not the bathroom because of the moisture, so any other room would work. My question of where is more about how high up should it be hanging? Should the strop be flat or at an angle when used? Does it even matter?

The how part of the question is a little more straightforward. How did you hang your strop? My TM strop came with a metal clasp that attaches to a steel loop. I bought some hooks with toggle bolts for it, but would like to find out the answer to the "where" question before I start drilling holes in my wall.

I keep mine in the bathroom on the towel rack using a keyring. It sits about hip height or a little higher. I prefer to strop horizontally (well, the strop is horizontal - I'm vertical most of the time ), but I've seen guys strop at some seriously steep angles too.

There was a previous thread or two on where and how people hang their strops - hang on, I'll go look....
    ....

    ...still looking.....

    ......

    Here is one ......

    ....... here's another .....

    .... and one more.

    Hope one of those helps.

You're more than welcome. Yes, I have an innate and uncanny ability when it comes to search terms , stemming back to childhood when I would amaze my parents with my encyclopedic knowledge of the index of the ...um... encyclopedia!

(No, it's only because I'd seen the threads before and knew what to search on.)

James, you don't cease to amaze me either

bathroom works for me too, the strop stays attached to the towel rack, which makes it fairly close to horizontal for me.

^^ Same here. I have a hook screwed into a stud, so that I can stretch it good and tight...

I installed a bomb proof, kid resistant towel rack next to my sink. I made leather tie up strips to loop around the bar. I've got it set at height of my elbow. I get a good horizontal stretch that way.

I put them on the door handle in the bathroom when I strop (door is locked to prevent mishaps). Otherwise they hang in my bedroom.

Thanks for the replies. I ended up putting one wall mounted hook next to my sink, about waist height so the strop is at a nice level when pulled out. I also installed another hook in my closet for when it's not in use.
