    Default Paddle Strop

Is there any place where I can get pre-pasted 4 sided paddle strops besides Tony. I would love to order them from Tony but my razors are in urgent need of sharpening and just reading Tony's web site he wont be pre-pastings the stops anymore. I just don't have the time to paste the strops and would just like to get a ready to go strop.

You could probably paste a 4 sided strop in about 15-20 minutes of you took your time. Let it dry a day or two and you are ready to hone.
I stopped because I need to do it 3 to 15 times a day, a few days a week, sorting which buyer wants which combinations, marking the leather with grit numbers, then I need to let each dry a few days, wrap each in wax paper then a plastic bag then be sure I send it to the right customer.....and pack boxes, answer e-mails, phone calls, cut hides, make handles.....etc., etc., etc....

Easy to do one, a real time consuming process do do many day after day....

I could totally see how pasting the many combinations of paddles could be a full time job in itself, Tony. I don't blame you. Similarly with Howard, he fairly recently started charging $5 extra to lap the Belgian Stones and I don't blame him a bit either. Both of you provide a great service to us SRPers. Thanks!

yep, did the lapping thing too. Some would flatten in 5-10 minutes, other 30 minutes....time really adds up after a while.

I love doing what I do but there comes a time when I must set some limits on the time devoted to this. This is one where both the product and my well being improve.

I understand on the time issue as well, maybe for the issue of cost to the end user you could offer a "single shot" of paste for each side at the same price?

The main reason this was a nice feature is that diamond pastes are much cheaper in bulk (and chromium), but usually you get way more than needed, even in the smallest sizes available.

I'm not really sure how you'd package them, but just a suggestion...

    Droshi,
I had thought about the single shot idea but most insist on refills as the smallest Amplex sells is a 5gr. syringe for $18 or so and would last 5 years. I wanted to give a little extra and was worried a single shot may not be quite enough if a guy was a bit heavy handed. It will cost about $1.25 more than a pre-pasting.

The paddles are done and my wife and I are filling containers with pastes now so the paddles should be ready in the morning.
