    Default pasting balsa

I made a few 3x12 paddle strops and ordered 0.25, 0.5, and 1.0 diamond pastes from classic shaving and I am wondering if there is a specific way to paste the balsa. I have seen a couple or threads showing how to paste jeather but what about balsa? Also the pastes come in 5ml syringes and I am wondering how much of each I will need for strops this size.

First wet the paddle with water then scatter a few drops of paste to the paddle. Wet your finger then spread the paste as evenly as possible. You may have to wet your finger again a couple times. Let the paddle dry overnight before using.

Put a very small amount and extend the finger. There is no mystery. I insist remember the little amount is needed. Only a few points of paste and extend with the finger. Congratulations Diamond pastes are magical...

Oddly, I just finished and pasted some balsa paddles today.

I used green ChrO (thanks again Chrisl) for one side. I just used a little water to mix the ChrO powder. Let the paddle dry and I took some newspaper to rub the surface and all is good!

    YMMV....
