Restored loom strop
I snagged this a while back. I decided to restore it. I dismounted the loom side of the strop. I cleaned it and worked it back into shape. I replaced the hard sides and repasted them. It is a pretty nice strop. It works great!

!
I've restored similar one's lately, but they are more of a 'fixed' loom strop (no tightening; just tight over a concave piece of wood).
I'm all set up to restore two loom strops similar to the one you have.
How did you fix the two ends together on yours?
Are they nailed to the wood center?
The two I have, are similar to the one Dovo offers...and I am not sure how I'm going to go about holding the seam together, so it holds as I tighten the strop...
Any suggestions?
C utz
P.S. I'm thinking of going to a shoe repair shop and seeing if they can sew it or have a trick or two....

The ends of this strop were in good shape. I have had others that I sewed up with carpet thread then used contact cement to glue a reenforcement strip on the undersides. This has fixed them right up. I used a punch for the sewing holes so that they were even and the thread wasn't stressing the leather.
