Home-made strop
So, I got adventurous a little while ago and made my own paddle strop. I realized I over-pasted the balsa but I'm hoping that won't be too detrimental to the strop. I put a coat or two of polyurethane on the paddle then glued the balsa and veg-tanned leather to the paddle. Anyways, here are pictures with a nice strip of veg-tan and balsa with Chrisl's Chromium paste:

Chromium
The Chromium starts in a paste form (I ordered a small amount from Chrisl for $4.00). I just added a little bit of water to get a thin paste and applied it with a rubber glove and/or popsicle stick (I can't remember which) spreading it thinly onto a 3/8 piece of balsa. I made sure to make it thin so that it wouldn't warp on drying. I then attached the balsa to the paddle. If you order a small amount from from Chris it comes with instructions that help.

Made to order?
Sorry for the late post, had a busy week or so.
Made to order?....never thought about it. I suppose I'd consider it if there were enough of an interest. Also, I'd want someone to give their approval when they see it "in the flesh" because pictures may deceiving (particularly if the paste is correctly applied). That is if you were being serious about it .
P.S.
By your signature I'd guess you're a fellow Rugger. Nice to see.
