Default Help with Heirloom 4 Sided Vintage Style Paddle Strop

I'm just getting into the hobby and I got a new Heirloom 4 Sided Vintage Style Paddle Strop which I purchased from an online seller. It is labeled .5, 1, 3, and then what seems to be brown leather on the fourth side. It did not come with instructions. Also, the three sides with numbers seem to have a white and brown powder infused into them. I am assuming that .5, 1, 3 are for the micron notation and the brown leather is for simple stropping?

    So my questions

    1. Are the .5, 1, 3 sides infused with paste?
    2. If so, is the .5 cosidered coarse, 1 medium and 3 fine?
    3. Do the infused sides need to be re-surfaced with paste every so often?

    Also does anyone have instructions?

I think this strop is beautiful and I'm sure I'll be doing business with Tony in the future. Thanks in advance.

Yes, I think its safe to assume that the numbered sides are pasted (did you get it new from Tony?).

The grits go from course (3) to fine (.5). So depending on the condition of the razor's edge, you might go 20 passes (spine leading, moving heel to toe, keep the razor flat on the strop) on the 3 micron. Then say 20 on the 1. Then 20 on the .5. Then strop on the plain leather 30-60 laps before each shave.

I'm sure if you email or PM Tony he will send you instructions (I lost mine )

PS Clean the razor after each grit so as not to cross them up. You will have to re-paste them eventually, but not very often.
