    Default Condition, how often?

    Hi Guys,
Perhaps I haven't searched quite enough, but I haven't seen this one covered. How often should you condition with mink oil or Neats Foot? Every six months? Every year? Two? Or do you re-condition it whenever you notice that the strop appears to be drying out?
    Thanks,
    Tony

I just try to give it the old rubdown with my hand before I strop. That seems to keep it in top shape. Otherwise, I would leave it be until it's noticeably dry.

I recondition when the strop appears, and feels very dry. I also notice that by this point drag is reduced as well. My house has ver dry air, especially in the winter, I condition using strop dressing roughly once a year or so, perhaps closer to nine months.

+1 to the above. I've got a couple of strops I've never conditioned at all, just given them a hand rub occasionally. I guess the frequency of conditioning will also depend on the type and quality of the leather, where it's stored etc. If it starts to feel dry or a bit stiff, that's when I'd do it.
