Anyone use this paddle combo?
I was doing some searching for some travel items and came across this.
Anyone used this? Curious about the actual size of it (width/length/thickness) and how well it works.
Thanks in advance!

I have restored strop that are 1" wide and 12" long. They work great! I've seen vintage strops with stone also. They seem to have been well used.

Thanked: 150Yeah, I have a vintage strop/coticule combo thing that is approx. 1.5"x8" and is a joy to use.
The dimensions don't matter nearly as much as quality materials and good technique do.

Well, actually the dimensions in this case are critical since I will have VERY limited space during travel (military deployment). If I can't carry it along with all of my other gear, it won't work.
I am really curious about the particular one I linked in my original post. Jim at Vintage Blades sells it; here's the expanded link:
Vintage Blades LLC :: Razor Strops :: Paddle Strop & Razor Stone Combination
I can't really make out the maufacturer, but it is the one I was considering.....
Thanks!

Thanked: 1212That stone could be a Belgian Blue Whetstone. During my visit at the quarry, I a saw similar strop/stone combination. Rob Celis (son of the owner) said they don't sell those things themselves, but produce them according to the instructions of a reseller. He didn't mention the name of that reseller.
