Thanked: 0WTB Hand American Chrom Ox
Does anyone know where I could pick up some of the Hand American Chromium Oxide that he had that came already mixed and ready to apply. Does anyone know if he is still in business or what? Every time I go to the site it has something or another updating or something. Thanks!

If you're looking for a small amount to apply to a strop or three, I have the Hand American powder that can easily be mixed with a carrier medium like a light oil. I have these listed in the classified section.
I don't think anyone knows at this point what is going on with Hand American other than I know Keith is transitioning to wholesale sales only.

Thanked: 0Thanks for letting me know Chris. Do you have any idea what he use to use with his pre-mixed stuff that he use to sell? Depending on what you are applying it too some members told me you could just use some water with the powdered Chrom oxide like what you have. And I think I remember you mentioning some neets foot oil.

right, if you get the powder from Chris you have the option of using whatever is more appropriate to where you're applying it. On balsa/fabric people seem to prefer mixing it with water, for leather, some leather friendly oil, i.e. neatsfoot. I think it's a whole lot better option as you have the choice and you know exactly what you're using.

Over on Knifeforums.com, Dave Martell, the owner and operator of D&R Sharpening has become a distributor for Hand American, and there was some discussion a while back about what the preconstituted stuff was carried in. Apparently it isn't an oil that it was in, although I've found oil to be okay. Many of the guys over there have had fantastic success with Goop brand waterless hand cleaner, or just about any hand cleaner for that matter. Just google D&R sharpening or Japneseknifesharpening.com or whatever, and shoot Dave an email. Top notch guy to deal with, and if you ever need a knife sharpened, he's one of the best in the country.
He has talked about Keith at HA getting the liquid chrome ox back on the market in a different formula or something.
