    Default Diamond Strop Maintenance

    Hi....

I have a Diamiond Strop (bench hone from hand american)

I noticed that the leather is very dry, I was thinking to use some nestfoot oil, or strop dressing, and then wait a couple of days and apply some diamond paste again....what do you think about it?

Usually when strops are pasted the paste has a carrier of one kind or another which is usually oil based. You should not have to do anything to it. It may seem dry because of the coating on it but it should be OK.

Once pasted I would not add more oil to it. It could affect the adhesion of the diamond to the strop. Maybe not but I wouldn't do it.
