Strop Width
I just received my straight razor set from Vintage Blades. It came with a 1.75" strop. My concern is that the strop width doesn't cover the entire width of the blade. Am I missing something here, or does the strop not need to be at least as wide as the razors cutting edge?

Thanked: 3795Nope, most strops are not the width of blades. You can do an x-pattern on the strop to cover the entire width of the blade.

Thanked: 1587Or a "C" pattern - that one works well for me.

+1 to above - I use a "C" shape when stroping, and an X when honing.
I had been wondering if anyone else did a "C".....

Thanked: 1587Well, it's really more of an X pattern but with a curvy stroke to it: like an (-pattern maybe. The heel moves slightly slower than the toe during the stroke.
I like it because I end up not having to figure 8 the razor - at the end of each stroke the razor is where it needs to be to begin the next stroke. That's just a personal preference thing though...
