Default Is Tony Miller Four Sided Paddle Strop a do it all strop?

Until recently I've been planning on buying an artisan strop as well as a four sided paddle strop from Tony Miller. I was looking on the site and noticed that he offers the option of putting normal stropping leather on side of the paddle. Would there be anything wrong with using this as a daily strop, or would the hanging artisan give me better end results. Also, would it be any harder/easier to do daily stropping with the paddle strop as opposed to the hanging strop.

Most people prefer a hanger for daily use but there is no reason why you can't get the same result from a paddle. many use paddles as travel stops with great results.

This is really a case of 'bigger is better"...to a point. any hanging strop, 2" x 12" to 3" x 24" will ahve far more surface area and will therefore be more effective. But, not everyone wants or needs every tool made for stropping. many are fine with a single, simple tool to do it all. It will take more passes and time but will do the job. the Combo was mainly designed for the guy on a budget who wants a single tool, and a single expense to get going. Way down the road if you stick with this you will probably find a hanging strop more useful but many never go beyond a paddle or loom strop.

I'll have these back up as soon as more pastes arrive.
