Default Tony Miller's Paddle as do it all strop?

I'm in the market for a quality strop, and until recently I had planned on buying a Tony Miller artisan as well as a Tony miller four sided paddle strop for pastes. I noticed on his sight that he has the option to make the four sided paddle strop into a do it all strop by making one side out of normal stropping leather. I'm wondering if this is a good option for me. Will using the four sided paddle strop for daily stropping be any less effective or harder to use than his artisan strop? Also, would there be anything wrong with pasting one side with chromium oxide? I ask this because Tony mentions chrom ox is not available in the description.

Some folks really like a hanging leather strop for final finishing but a paddle strop works just as well.
In addition, Tony is not saying you should not use CrO on one of the pasting sides, he is just saying he does not carry it.
