Thread: How Often to Use the Pasted Strop

I suspect the answer will be, it depends. But I'll ask it anyway. How often do you want to refresh the edge with a strop with diamond paste (0.25 micron). Right now I am using the razor daily. Don't know how to classify my beard relative to some else's beard. If I was forced to do so I would say it is more on the side of tough. Is the answer closer to one week, or closer to 4-5 weeks ? I want to do this as right as I can. I will also buy another strop to use 0.5 micron dimaond paste. Then get a polishing stone like a coticule or chinese. I figure that I will have to work my way backwards in honing as time goes by. Thanks for any suggestions...

My experience with .25 is that less is better, and only on certain steels... I have only ever used a .25 right after the initial honing...

The .50 Cr paste is way gentler on the face and is better for touch ups when needed..
Basically when the razor is not performing, you go to a pasted strop, when the razor stops performing off the pasted strops, take it back to the stones...
