So here is the situation:
In Poland, i had a man who runs a knife/barber/hair stylist supply/sharpening service/store hone one of my razors...as i talked more with him, he said that he spent a great deal of time in Japan working with 'old-school' knife/sword/razor makers learning their trade and the way they would sharpen / hone their products...and he told me and subsequently gave me this (ill do my best to describe it) :

A 8 in x 8 in leather "cloth"...it has no pattern or anything, its brown, and if you move your finger across it, it has a sort of texture / fuzziness to it, as if a carpet...and he said to take the razor (the same as in normal stropping) across the 'grain/fuzziness' of this cloth about 10 times, then rotate the cloth and do the same on the other side of razor...this process can be repeated many times...

He said this what these old Japanese swords / knife / razor makers all use and say it the best to finish preparing the blade after honing and before shaving...no 'traditional' strop or paste needed...

i hope i have adequately described this cloth, does anyone know what im trying to describe here?? Know anything about this cloth and if its truly good?

Thanks
