How to use my strop?

I have seen a lot of videos about stropping on youtube and i think i have the idea but the question is not about technique but about the hardware.

i bought a strop 3" at SRD and it comes with leather and the other strip is fabric, as i said i know, more or less, how to use the leather one but waht about the other, its not linen or canvas is fabric, and how do i suposse to use it and when? and waht about the back side of the leather? is it useable to paste with some abrassive?

Use the fabric to "Dry" the blade after you shave with 10 to 15 passes.
then use it before the leather... about 1/3 -1/2 of the passes you will do on the leather side - 20 passes on the fabric 60 on the leather will keep your razor happy.

That's about it. I would not paste the back of either leather or cloth component on a strop.
Some people do paste the backside of their cloth, but I keep pasted strops well away from daily. This offers less chance of contamination.

How to use your strop?

Well, first I advise the young offender he was in serious violation of the rules and then I lecture him and then tell him how this is going to hurt me more than him and then administer a few quick strikes to the buttocks. It's all in the wrist motion and you must limit the force and.....Oh you mean for shaving purposes.

I like to use 20 passes on the fabric and 60 passes on the leather before shaving. That's really it.

well i persionaly do 15 on fabric 20 on leather.

remember speed is not important so slow and dont roll the edge when you turn the blade roll on it spine. speed will come with lots of practice. and dont to much pressure just let the blade rest on the strop and keep tension on the strop.
