Thanked: 1How's this Cotton Strop from eBay?
I found a seller who has cotton strops available on eBayUK. I have always wanted to try a linen/cotton strop, just out of curiosity (though I have been told that there isn't much of a difference) but never had a leather strop which had one attached. I was thinking of purchasing one of these, but I'd like to know if anyone has any experience with them before I buy it.
Here's a link (hope its alright to post; it is buy-it-now): Handmade Cotton Hanging Strop for Open Razors, 3" Wide on eBay, also, Barber Shop Shaving, Vanity Perfume Grooming, Collectables (end time 21-Nov-08 14:42:50 GMT)

Nice looking old style cotton. Despite the seller having the same name he is no relation <g>.

Thanked: 1Thanks, it arrived today. Looks very well made. The only thing I have noticed is that the strop is a little wavy (ie not flat, but it goes up and down in the middle), however, when I stretch it it flattens out, so I think it will be ok. Now the question is whether I need to "break it in" using that dry soap and glass bottle method, or use some paste on it. Any suggestions?

glass bottle probably cant hurt, and soap can be washed out.. (would the cotton shrink after "washing")
i wouldnt start on the pastes.. get to know what you've got first..
